Hoe het brandgevaar berekend wordt
MERIDIAN rekent het Canadese Fire Weather Index-stelsel (Van Wagner, 1987) zelf door — hetzelfde model dat Copernicus EFFIS voor Europa gebruikt. Dat gebeurt op de weerdata van drie modellen, met drie weken aanloop zodat de opgebouwde bodemdroogte meetelt.
Canadees FWI-stelsel op drie modellen, drie weken aanloop. ±waarde is het verschil tussen de modellen: hoe groter, hoe minder hard de klasse.
